Are you a university student, or are you about to become one?

You might have heard that your student years are among the best in your life, but that’s not to say that the experience doesn’t come without some…trouble.

Adulting isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be, and uni students will soon find that the experience can be trying. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of some of things you might relate to:

1. The pain of buying expensive textbooks

It’s been said that students spend over US$1,000 (£762) on books and supplies in one academic year, which might leave you wondering, “Why are textbooks spellbindingly expensive and most importantly, can I do without them?!”

Probably not.

2. Pulling an all-nighter to finish an assignment

“Why did I leave this to the last minute?” said every student ever.

3. Pulling an all-nighter to study for an exam

…because the promise you made to yourself last semester to start studying earlier and to never procrastinate fell onto deaf ears – yours, to be exact.

4. Going hungry at some point of the semester

…because you made some poor life decisions, like heading to the club when the money should have been spent on groceries.

5. Becoming a master procrastinator

Be it your assignment or studying for a quiz or exam, you just can’t help but to pull your gaze away from watching Modern Family or Game of Thrones.

6. Skipping class

Because on some days, it’s almost impossible to make it for that 9am class after a late night.

7. Forcing yourself to attend class

The knowledge that you’ll probably be stuck paying back your student loan for the next three decades of your life doesn’t make it any easier to find the motivation to head to class. Somehow, you manage to pull through anyway. Kudos to you!

8. Falling for another student

You spot a complete stranger, find yourself irrevocable smitten with him or her, stalk them on social media to see if the said individual is single (and not!) but continue to lust after them from afar anyway…

9. Becoming dependent on caffeine

You probably had coffee only a handful of times in school, but now you’re a fully-fledged university student, coffee has become your trusty new sidekick that has helped get you through those tiring (and non-tiring) days.

10. Gaining weight

You probably never gave your weight too much attention until your jeans start feeling a little tight around the waist.

You have no choice but to confront the fact that those late night suppers have started to stick – in the form of love handles.
