Why you should study English in Europe

If you are a European and want to travel to another country to obtain international experience, or if you are from another continent and want to study here, Europe is the place to be. In recent years, international experience has grown increasingly important. Employees who have stepped outside their “comfort zone” are sought by both big and small companies.

By studying in Europe, you are laying the groundwork for a successful career. Many European countries also make an attempt to get international students to stay after graduation. That means that if you choose to study in Europe, you are likely to receive a job offer and be able to stay for a longer period of time.

In total, there are over 4,000 higher education institutions in Europe offering a wide range of courses at bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate level. Universities in Europe welcome international students with open arms and provide them with a course of study that suits their professional needs in today’s global market.

While English may not be the first language in most European countries, learning English in these countries can be a whole new adventure. Students benefit from low tuition fees, exquisite food, convenient public transport services, a wide range of education options, learning new languages, and job prospects.

France

Late-night strolls down the moonlit Seine, flaky buttery croissants, and all things arts and culture — from music and museums to cafes and cinema — come to mind when thinking of the “City of Light.” Paris, however, like the other of France’s cities, shines as a study abroad destination for international students too. Whether you are a student, a business professional, or a traveller, there is a language course in France that is right for you. There are English courses available for all fluency levels, ages and time durations.

Italy

From the glittering waves of Sardinia to the chic streets of Milan, Italy offers an array of varied experiences, attracting not only tourists but students from all over the world for education. While it isn’t exactly conventional to learn English in a country where English isn’t its first language, it can be quite a life-changing experience. Studying in Italy is considerably cheaper than in other countries. On average, tuition fees at public Italian universities range from 500 to 4,000 euros and 13,000 to 16,000 euros at private universities per year.

Germany

While tuition fees in other countries can get very expensive, Germany remains one of the few countries which offers courses without charging a tuition fee — this goes the same for international students as well. While it’s common that free and high quality do not belong in the same sentence, a German education proves that it can. 

While most programmes are taught in German, there are opportunities to study English in Germany and a growing selection of English-language programmes designed for international students. Some of the institutions that offer English courses include: Die Neue Schule; Sprachsalon; and Axioma Sprachakademie.
