Performer’s Certificate in Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, & Percussion

During this programme, you’ll be expected to earn eight credits of Applied Music, two credits of Orchestra or Wind Ensemble and two credits of Graduate Chamber Ensemble.

Before applying, you must submit transcripts of all collegiate-level study and international students must submit the results of their TOEFL examination with a score of 450 or more.

To be accepted onto this UConn certificate programme, you’re required to audition to showcase your talent, while all applicants must complete the university’s Certificate Application Form which is available from the Graduate School.

Since each of these Certificates is designed for outstanding musicians who have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a university or music conservatory in the US or an international equivalent, it’s the perfect gateway to furthering your skills in Strings, Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion.

Performer’s Certificate in Piano

For pianists who demonstrate eloquence, skill and passion, this Performer’s Certificate will elevate you to the next level of your career.

Throughout this course, you will acquire eight credits of Applied Music, two credits of Graduate Chamber Ensemble and two credits of Special Topics (Accompanying).

All Master’s and Doctoral piano applicants must submit a preliminary audition recording via mail or email before the specified due date. Applicants whose recordings are selected for an in-person audition will be scheduled to perform for the faculty on an individual basis.

The pre-screening recording itself must only include a complete sonata by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven or Schubert and a large-scale 19^th-century solo work (not a concerto).

Much like the above and below Performer’s Certificates, if you’re from a country other than the US, you must submit the results of your TOEFL examination (score of 450 or higher) and provide transcripts of all collegiate-level study.

Performer’s Certificate in Voice

For this Performer’s Certificate in Voice, you’ll earn eight credits of Applied Music, two credits of Chorus or Opera and two credits of Special Topics (Repertory/Coaching).

With the same application requirements as the other two certificates, a personal audition is expected, collegiate-level study transcripts are to be submitted and the results of your TOEFL examination must contain a score of 450 or higher.

To apply for financial aid, students should write a personal letter requesting financial assistance at the time of application.
