How Roger Williams University produces successful lives and great careers in Architecture

Font

Students not only learn in a variety of settings -- including studios; lectures; seminars; internships; study abroad; field work; public forums; conferences; and community service -- but places, too. An RWU Architecture degree provides direct access to professional opportunities in Providence,Boston, New York City, and throughout the U.S., as well as in major international cities including Florence, Buenos Aires, Beijing, and more.

The result? Graduates with the confidence and resolve to make their own marks on the world. They are the ones with something extra to offer beyond hard skills -- the type aware of the impact of their actions, the impact of a business decision on the environment, and the impact of a policy on marginalised individuals.

Each graduate walks their own unique pathway at RWU. Three scholars tell us their extraordinary journeys and the university that inspired them.

Automotive design, Trousers, Fashion, Standing, Art

Dynamic Architecture graduates are made at Roger Williams University (RWU). Located between Boston and New York City in Bristol, Rhode Island, the School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation (SAAHP) is where students from many backgrounds gain the knowledge and commitment to become tomorrow’s leaders in the creation and stewardship of the built environment.

A holistic curriculum makes this possible. A degree in Architecture combines rigorous professional training in design, history, planning and technology -- at RWU, this is strengthened with guaranteed paid internships for all Architecture and Preservation Practices students, studios taught by Teaching Firms in Residence, and regular lectures from top architects and firms.

Balance -- between creation and conservation, aesthetic and technical pursuits, local and global perspectives, individual exploration and community involvement -- is central to this approach.

SAAHP leads the way in supporting students in finding career success. The Career Investment Programme is a first-of-its-kind programme in the US -- a fact evident in its long track record of helping students and graduates.

In 2018, the programme won the AIA/ACSA Practice + Leadership Award for its “best practice examples of highly effective teaching, scholarship, and outreach in the areas of professional practice and leadership” which “promote models of excellence that can be appropriated by other educators.”
