If you’re Indian, aged 25 years or less, and eager to study overseas, you’re in luck.

Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education has a new scholarship for Indians to further their studies in engineering, IT, languages and arts specialisation in Oman for a period of five years, according to Times of Oman.

“Ministry of Higher Education of Oman is offering six educational scholarships for Indian students for pursuing higher studies in Oman during the academic year 2017-2018 under the Omani Programme for Cultural and Scientific Cooperation,” said the Indian Embassy in Oman’s capital city, Muscat.

Applicants must show they have a General Secondary Certificate or Higher Education Diploma.

The programme will pay for flight expenses to and fro Oman, provide OMR200 (USD 518) to cover room, board, stipend, transport as well as free treatment at government hospitals.

For Indians already residing in Oman, the scholarship will not cover for flight expenses and stipend.

Institutions participating in this programme include both public and private universities, such as Sultan Qaboos University, College of Banking and Financial Studies and Sohar University.

According to Times of Oman, the two countries’ diplomatic relationship goes back more than 60 years ago. India’s ambassador to the Sultanate, Indra Mani Pandey said earlier this month India is seeking stronger bonds between the two countries, including bringing Indian entrepreneurs to Oman to help diversify its economy with the establishment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
