The A$500 student travel grant by Study Gold Coast is only available to the first 500 applicants who meet the terms and conditions. The application closes on May 23, 2022. Study Gold Coast may close applications before this date if the quota is exhausted.

If an applicant meets all of the eligibility, they will receive conditional approval by May 31, 2022. Conditional approval does not guarantee that a student will receive the student travel grant, notes Study Gold Coast.

The final stage of the verification process requires applicants that have received conditional approval to attend the Gold Coast Student Hub from June 1, 2022 to Oct. 31, 2022 in-person to provide evidence of required documents. No further claims will be processed after this date.

Australia wooing international students back to its shores

Australia closed its borders to international students for close to two years due to the pandemic. While student sentiment took a hit in this period, the Morrison government bolstered efforts to woo students back to its shores by announcing several incentives.

These include temporary removing the 40 hours-a-fortnight restrictions for students, offering a A$630 visa refund scheme and the 485 visa renewals. The shift in work hours will be reviewed in April 2022.

States in Australia are also offering students perks, including Western Australia, which announced a total of A$2,000 payment to assist international students with quarantine-related costs of studying at Western Australian education institutions in Semester 1, 2022.
