The University of the Pacific is the oldest chartered university in California. Since its founding in 1851 the institution has expanded to comprise 11 schools and colleges, offering more than 80 areas of study, including 25 graduate programs and 10 accelerated programs.

In the 2018 national rankings, the University of the Pacific was ranked within the top 60 Best Value universities in the US, also coming an impressive 110th in other national rankings. Centrally located in Northern California, Stockton is in an area surrounded by vineyards, farms, and miles of waterways. Pacific students benefit from a lively downtown district that has been recently redeveloped. Those who choose to study at the University of the Pacific find themselves within easy reach of San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Jose – which are all fantastic locations when studying ends and the job hunt begins.

With a student population of more than 6,200, the university campus offers many opportunities, with more than 150 student clubs and organizations for students to get involved in. For active students, there are 14 intramural sports clubs including tennis, dodgeball, and ultimate frisbee, which provide ample opportunities to meet new people across Pacific’s campus. Since Stockton is set by the Delta Waterway, water sports are also a popular pastime. At the heart of the campus is the Donald and Karen DeRosa University Centre, otherwise known as the ‘DUC’, which offers students an array of dining opportunities, and a chance to socialize in the university’s on-campus pub, ‘The Lair’.

Founded in 1977, the Eberhardt School of Business at Pacific offers prospective students both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. The school is internationally-recognized for its excellent teaching faculty, who have been instrumental in maintaining the sought-after AACSB accreditation. With a student-faculty ratio of 13:1, the school also prides itself on the provision of highly-interactive classes and close working relationships between faculty, staff, and students.

Participants of the Eberhardt School of Business are also granted a wealth of activities to immerse themselves in – both social and professional. To highlight a selection of the clubs on offer, students can join the Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary society for accounting, finance and management information systems, which aims to promote academic excellence and exposure to these professions; Delta Sigma Pi, a leading national business fraternity; and the Eberhardt School of Business Student Association (ESBSA) – the student body association for the school’s undergraduate students.

The Eberhardt Career Management Centre is also an invaluable student resource. The dedicated centre actively helps students and graduates unleash their full potential, also connecting them with fantastic internship and job opportunities within their chosen field.

Graduate students looking to continue or start their studies at the Eberhardt School of Business can choose from three full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs. These include an Early Advantage MBA Program, which offers students the chance to complete a full-time accelerated MBA in just 16 months; the PharmD/MBA, a joint Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration program; and the JD/MBA, the Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration Program.

The Eberhardt School of Business advertises these graduate courses as programs specifically-designed for motivated, high-achieving individuals. It welcomes students from a cross-section of majors, as well as professionals who are in the early stages of their career, or making a career change.

Highlights of the MBA program include an intensive Applied Business Principles foundation course, a General Management or Healthcare Management Track, preparing students for the fast-paced business environment. Students also study abroad for two weeks through a global markets course. In recent years, this has taken participants across the world to destinations across Europe (i.e. France, Spain, and England); Singapore; Panama and Costa Rica, just to name a few.

The Eberhardt Business School offers fantastic access to a range of resources for students, including the Centre for Business and Policy Research, which has offices in the Stockton and Sacramento campuses at the University. Founded in 2004, this research and outreach unit is known for its independent, objective analyses of business, economic, and public policy issues in California. Students also have the chance to gain valuable industry experience while studying through course-based local community projects and interactions. Highlights of recent projects include Cal Cedar Products – an MBA consulting project that evaluates potential company market expansion to Asia, and the Valley’s Harley Davidson – a student-designed customer management strategy for its motorcycle dealership.

The Eberhardt School of Business boasts a fantastic reputation for graduate employability. Historically, approximately 47 percent of the school’s accounting graduates have been recruited by top international, national, regional, and local CPA firms, receiving starting salaries above the national average. This is reflective of the healthy job market on offer to graduate business students in the US. Recent reports have highlighted the great job prospects for the MBA, with the annual Corporate Recruiters Survey reporting that 86 percent of organizations across the globe plan to hire recent MBA graduates – up from 79 percent in 2016. The strongest demand for MBA graduates came from the US and Asia-Pacific job markets.

With a thriving business industry and a high-demand for MBA graduates, there has never been a better time to pursue a Business degree in the US.
