The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 were recently released, revealing the top-ranked universities by subject.

Business consistently ranks as the most popular major among students – a fact that comes as no surprise, as this practical area of study can help students develop transferable skills that can be used across a range of industries.

Business degrees typically cover a wide range of business-related courses, such as finance, economics and accounting, and depending on your area of specialisation, this degree can act as a stepping stone to many careers in a diverse range of industries.

So, if you have your heart set on studying among the world’s top universities for business and management studies, note that the US has dominated three out of the five top spots in the latest edition of the QS subject rankings.

Harvard University has retained its crown as the best university in the world for studying business and management, while INSEAD: The Business School for the World (France), London Business School (UK), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (US) and University of Pennsylvania (US) came in second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

This list has not changed from last year’s business and management studies rankings. With the exception of London Business School, the rest are private institutions.

Released yesterday (Feb 27), its website notes that the “QS World University Rankings by Subject are based upon academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.”

Below is an overview of how other universities fared in five other areas of study:
